"In January 1992 a shipping accident released nearly 30,000 rubber duckies into the Pacific Ocean and for the past 15 years they have been turning up on coastlines all over the northern hemisphere – Alaska, Russia, Japan, Greenland, east coast of the United States and more. Now oceanographers believe that they will start showing up on the beaches of Britain. They must have gotten into the Atlantic through the Northwest Passage. The manufacturer is offering a reward of $100 per duckie but collectors are willing to pay a lot more."
