i am a table games dealer in a casino.

the problem is this ... random gross creeps will come up to you and say things that are offensive ... i'll go into it later.

some of the stuff is in jest. i know its not a library. for example this old dude was at my table and my floor came up behind me and this conversation took place
-what are you wearing?
- i know they're hidden.
- why
- its cold.
- well i'm dissapointed i can't see them.
- oh you have to watch him he's bad

she was fine with it and they were just ribbing about cleavage.

here's another example.

this has happened twice.
players start yelling bust her ass and spank her when i'm dealing.

i mean this honeysuckle happens constantly. and i am really sick of it.

i know the supervisors really aren't looking out for me and i have to take care of it myself.

for whatever reason i have a lot of difficulty standing up to these people.

- for one thing the stuff that they say ... is it a joke or not? is it acceptable in a sexualized environment? sometimes i dont know... i feel like i could be over reacting... its a pain to report every little thing that they do. but on the other hand if its offensive to me i should not see it that way at all. if its offensive i have a right to report it.

- admission. i have a long history of being bullied/"abused" and i use quotations because people like to throw around the word abuse to hide what they are actually doing which is breaking specific laws. sometimes i really want to curse these people out because they remind me of other jerks that i knew. the behavior is really similar.

- its hard to stand up to someone when they are being a creep because they can just be more offensive and more creepy and still have the "upper hand" and get away with it.

- on the other hand there is video and security and supervision always at hand. in addition to that i have begun recording my time there with my phone but the point is its actually a great place for reporting incidents like this.
-------------------------------------------------

so i guess what i need help with really is standing up to them and standing up to myself. i'm really confused about it and need some guidance.

i'm very inhibited from standing up to them and really its all about my past problems. this should be easy and its hard for me...

it makes my job suck too.

These guys have probably been drinking too right?

That's a hard situation especially since it's your "customers" doing it. Report them, see what happens, there's also nothing wrong with sticking up for yourself. I don't know if you can do this, but can you just walk away from the table if you have an offensive person, or refuse to deal to them?

Is there any other dealer that you could talk to to see how they have found to be the best way to handle such situations? I would imagine some of the other dealers have the same experiences and maybe there is something to learn from them that applies specific environment. How to get the supervisors a little more involved or watchful and things like that.

you can never walk away from your table or even turn around when you're are dealing. you have to face forward and watch the rack (the chips in the bank)

that's a big part of why they do it.

i have asked and one person actually said that she liked them because she would make fun of them... blah blah blah bs.

tons of the other dealers have had the same experiences but that doesn't mean that they are going to do anything. i have to say that most of the females dealers don't even say anything about it when that happens and it happens constantly.

the whole system is stupid and dealers get screwed the most. first you are working for tips based on whether other people make money randomly. the customers are selfish ********. and then in addition to that horrible people come up to you and are offensive. this job doesn't pay.

i think i just need to quit because i can't take working there anymore.

but i don't have another job or money saved. i have to start looking for another job but i feel like i will be turned down no matter what.

I think this shows that you already know what you need to do.

I'd say to go ahead and start job shopping, but try not to let anyone know it. There's no harm in just looking around, right? And if you do actually find something, then GO FOR IT!! :)

Either way, I wish you luck in this. :)

thank you, bjd.

Hi-it's easier to get a job when you already have a job-that's a known fact. Maybe a quick sharp replies like: oh, your wound up tonight, I'll wash your mouth out w/ Lysol so please stop, I'm not open for discussion. Just me I give it right back but I know your tips depends on how pleased your customers are w/ you. It is sexual harrassment, and it's against the law. I was thinking maybe you could get a job at another casino and if you do ask them right there what is their policy on such behavior. Best of luck to you Misa. :)
