I’m a lone shoe
A product of a factory defect
Too slender to be a running shoe
Too rugged to be a formal shoe
To irregular to be a casual shoe
Too feminine to look like a male shoe
And too masculine to be a female shoe
My sole is deformed and my shape is strange
My color is dull and my designs are ridiculous
Shoes come in pairs and they go places
I was created as lone shoe not by intention but by accident
And I am stuck in place
Once disillusioned that I could probably find a pair
But now I’m rational again
I’m a lone shoe, deformed, without a pair and going nowhere
I’m aging, my dull color is slowly fading and my fabric becoming brittle
I’m dusty and beginning to grow molds
I’m happy…not because of what I have if any
I’m happy because I have no choice but to be happy
A happy lone shoe
Happy in the dark and stale air
Happy in the damp and cold dumpster
Happy…
