Special

Remember the time when your parents sat you down
Just you and them with no one else around
“You’re so special,” they say to you
But you laughed it off, you didn’t know it was true

Think about that moment, that place, that time
Did you know the importance of that single line?
I’ll just be honest, I don’t think you did
You mind was so small, but you were only a kid

Now you have walked upon life’s avenue
Encountering new challenges that you’ve never been through
So are you as special as your parents say?
You could find out, and you could learn today

They said you were special, but they never explained why
It’s such an important statement that they never specified
That’s why it works, you find out on your own
The answer is not in view, but it will make itself shown

It’s a like puzzle, a good way to think of it
Put the pieces together and be sure that they fit
The meaning will be clear when the puzzle is done
But until you try, the search hasn’t begun

What makes us special is very rare
Something no one else has, only you its there
Finding out what it is can be a whole different story
But at the same time, finding it is mandatory.
