Mom can you ever forgive me
For hurtful words that leap from my tongue?
How can you still love me
Through the damage wrought by your own son?
Can I ever hope to start anew?
A slate wiped clean, tresspasses forgotten
There's not a thing I wouldn't do
To fix forever what's currently broken
Why does my tongue so easily tangle
On three little words that so easily flow?
Through the lips of those so joyful
Yet stinging words are all I know
Why it is that I'm not able
To let loose the words that clog my throat?
to end this gloomy tale
And set these spoiled memories afloat
Nothing greater I desire
Than your caring embrace and warm approval
Neither of which can ever tire
For moms are but one step from angels
For hurtful words that leap from my tongue?
How can you still love me
Through the damage wrought by your own son?
Can I ever hope to start anew?
A slate wiped clean, tresspasses forgotten
There's not a thing I wouldn't do
