Because I'm such a cheery sort, here's a different kind of "awesome."

It's the world's largest nuclear bomb explosion from Soviet Russia in 1961. The fireball is roughly five miles wide and the base cloud is 25 miles wide. This is almost five times larger than anything the US ever tested.

I just find these explosions oddly beautiful, albeit frightening, as well.
