Does anyone ever feel deprived of physical contact?

I have three, two of which are rescued and one was bought. Two beagles and one mixed which I think has some bull terrier in him due to the shape of his head. I really love dogs!

Does anyone ever feel deprived of physical contact?

I completely understand the feeling. At least I get hugs from my dogs, but I'd love to feel some human affection too.

Fantasizing as a coping mechanism for loneliness

I do fantasize sometimes, thinking of what I'd like to do or say. Since most times they end up in disappointment in real life, I try to keep my mind occupied.

Now that 2013 has come to a close, how was the year for you?

Overall, this has been a pretty bad year for me. The good things: I helped rescue a dog, Ninna. I'm a godfather, since my little cousin had a boy and she asked me to. I finally have my professional engineer (PE) license, after waiting for having 4 years of experience my country required. The...

Why Is It So Hard To Find Someone You Like As Much As They Like You??

Maybe I'm just cynical at this point, but I don't think that balance exists at all. One side of the couple will always love/give/care more than the other one.

    Looking for chat-buddy and/or pen-pal.

Hello there. I can be your pen pal, although I'm moving soon so my address will change. Nice knowing you are from Canada, since that's a place I want to visit. Hello here from the tiny Caribbean island of Puerto Rico.

    Do pets help with loneliness?

It depends on the pet. One of my friends has a turtle.... and well... it's there, but it's hard to love it because it doesn't do much. On the other hand, dogs are great. A few minutes ago I was feeling like I wanted to cry, and suddenly my beautiful beagle jumped on me and gave me a puppy kiss...

What does it feel like, loneliness?

To me loneliness is akin to sadness. It's simply painful when realizing that you long for certain people, but you reach out and are ignored. That there are some people with whom you interact, but such interaction is limited because they do other things where you're not included. It's that...

All the single people..all the single people.

Although I'd like to find a relationship, it's very unlikely there's any girl from Puerto Rico in here. As such, I'm just comfortable with meeting new people, possibly pen pals. For a little bit about myself, I'm 31, live in San Juan, Puerto Rico. I'm an Industrial Engineer and work full time...

    Hello, from Rox!

Hello. Welcome to these forums. I can sort of relate. I do know a lot of people and am not too shy to talk to them, yet I feel really lonely. It's an odd feeling. Hope you enjoy it here :)

Hi there. Welcome to these forums :)

Finding happiness in the company of animals

I agree with the topic, as I am very fond of dogs. I've only had one, which lasted 13 years. I loved him a lot, and like many have said, he could feel when I was sad and he cheered me up. Maybe he was unique, but he was lively until the day he died. He just never stopped playing and having fun...

    guys have all the fun

Where I am from, males are expected to do the chasing. While girls are more liberal now, odds are that most of them still expect guys to do most of the work.

Does TV and film influence our expectations of relationships?

I agree... Things in life occur very differently than in movies/TV. Reactions, emotions, words said... it's all very different.

Are shy guys really appreciated by women?

Shy guys are seen by women at most as a friend. In order to really grab their attention, you have to be a bit more talkative, like to dance, etc.

    Accepting loneliness

I'm pretty much like most of you. I cope with my loneliness by keeping myself occupied, such as doing exercise early in the morning, then going to work, and then watching movies/series, reading, surfing the net... Yet it's still hard. Over the years it's gotten less painful, but I don't think...
