According to Wiki they're found near Australia. I've heard that lots of strange creatures live there. What so special about that part of the world? I never did understand that. I often wonder about creatures that we haven't discovered yet. There's gotta be some.

It's because it's very insolated from the rest of the world, therefore species evolved specifically to fit in that environment without the disturbance of outsiders. Something similar happens in remote islands, such as Gálapagos Islands.
Yeah, that's true.

Theory of evolution has an explanation for the diverse and unique species that inhabit Australia. Evolution is the mechanism that ensures survival for the habitat. Australia either broke off from the other continents (pangia? sp?) early on, or their habitat is so different from the rest of the world, the animals evolved to adapt.

and I believe scientists are still discovering new species of animals / organisms, including our ALL mascot candidate.

wanna check out a real freak show / cuddly germ, check out the specs on this guy.

Not to mention, scientists are now have the capabilities to genetically splice entire new species of organisms that do what we want....

weird side is glowing rats
cool side is algae (or something like yeast) that produces fossil fuels instead of what it normally produces... alcohol or whatever....

obviously, this isnt what the fish normally looks like
it is adapted for high pressure..

its just a blob at sea level.

Yep, they look pretty normal in their habitat. They have very little muscle structure to keep 'em in shape at sea level.
