I sleep very little at night. Most nights I lay awake overthinking, playing Words With Friends, watching Twitch streams, dozing for unspecified periods. But rarely do I have any period of straight, sound, restful sleep lasting longer than 90 minutes uninterrupted.

I usually have two sleep periods 3-4 hours each during the day.

I am retired/disabled so I have little to nothing in the way of obligations or responsibilities.

I am soon tired,.. exhausted..

I relate. I'm about 25-ish younger than you are. When I do knock for longer periods its through exhaustion. But as my body gets used to it, it doesn't get better, it gets worse lol. My dad is in the same boat, he was a firefighter for 30 years, about your age, though his routine and ways of living right now are rather unhealthy. I've tried mentioning it lightly but he's my dad and deserves my respect, even if what he does need is a slap from his...tv until 8 while ignoring my mother, falls asleep, wakes up at 1am, chainsmokes, secretly watces porn downstairs until 3, reads until 6, goes back to sleep for an hour, then watches more tv until 8, coupled with about 3-4 beers daily, some activities, but not many...in a sense, he's a good blueprint on what I should NOT be doing if I'm married and living with someone when I get there...
At the same time...who the hell am I to judge him?
