I am tired of love songs and all that annoying stuff. As a poet, when I read a poem about a break up or being in love, the poet says oh my goodness can no one find something more original to write about?

So it's the same thing with songs. I'd like to see some songs about other things. Songs that are more than the usual subjects. Songs that muse about our nature as humans. Songs that comment on life, songs that sing about the past or the future, songs that use metaphors, or songs about struggles. I don't know just things other than the usual.

Anyone got any suggestions?

I don't peticularly like country or rap, or music from the 70s-90s. But i'm open to trying most anything.

Try "The Human Equation", by Ayreon. It's a 2 disc album with a story about a man fighting with his emotions and memories trying to get out of a coma. The singers play different roles, some are the emotions, some are his loved ones. It's quite different. One of my favorite albums

If you want more unusual stuff you could try some of his other albums. "01011001" or "Into the Electric Castle". They also follow stories, but they're a lot more science-fiction like. Still awesome music though

Anything by Queensryche, but most especially their album "Promised Land". It's my favorite album of all time of any genre.

Here's a link to the title song from that album:

thanks for all this guys. I like a lot of these songs. Viva la vida, yesterdays, you found me, riot, a lot from rent. let it be. A lot of these.

And una, Just because rap isn't my culture or preference and I don't relate to much of the songs, doesn't mean I don't appreciate some of it.
