Hey I'm a third year film student in Canada and as such I've been watching tons and tons of movies throughout school. Just wondering if there are any other movie buffs on this site. I've been watching a lot of foreign film recently, be it German, Swedish, Korean etc.

I just watched a French movie called "Entre les murs" a.k.a The Class. It's pretty much about exactly that. I'll link a plot summary as well. If there is anyone who watches foreign film or knows of some good American indie film I'd love some recommendations.

Oh and I'll definitely return the favour if anyone is looking to get into foreign film. I've already seen quite a bit so if you don't mind subtitles there is a whole other side to film. You'll find foreign film has a much different feel from Hollywood.

Anyway here is a summary of the film from IMDb:

Teacher François Marin and his colleagues are preparing for another school year teaching at a racially mixed inner city high school in Paris. The teachers talk to each other about their prospective students, both the good and the bad. The teachers collectively want to inspire their students, but each teacher is an individual who will do things in his or her own way to achieve the results they desire. They also have differing viewpoints on the students themselves, and how best to praise and discipline them. The administration of the school tries to be as fair as possible, which includes having student representatives sit on the student evaluation committee. Marin's class this year of fourteen and fifteen year olds is no different than previous years, although the names and faces have changed. Marin tries to get through to his students, sometimes with success and sometimes resulting in utter failure. Even Marin has his breaking point, which may result in him doing things he would probably admit to himself are wrong. But after all is said and done, there is next year and another group of students. - written by huggo

haha long summary, but a very unique take on something that's normally pretty simple.

Yes there is a much different feel than Hollywood. I find that appealing enough that maybe half of the movies that i watch are foreign.
