Hi all!

OctoPhoMo stands for October Photography Month. I used to post on another site that held this challenge annually (as well as DePhoMo, December Photography Month). That site is now closed, so I thought it might be fun to try it here, seeing as we have some people who enjoy taking pictures. =]

How it works is simple: Post one photo (or more if you want) every day for the month of October. It should be a photo you took yourself, or have you in it. You can follow the list of daily prompts for ideas, or not, it doesn't matter; just have fun! =] (I personally enjoy the prompts, it feels kind of like a scavenger hunt that way.)

Here are the prompts for this year:

Oct 01 - Something Orange OR Something that starts with "O"

Oct 02 - Fall Leaves OR Bonfire

Oct 03 - Your Favorite Character OR Werewolf or Wolf

Oct 04 - Crazy Clothing OR Breast Cancer Awareness

Oct 05 - Favorite Autumn Outfit/Outerwear OR Oktoberfest

Oct 06 - Political/Election Related OR Crazy Hairdo

Oct 07 - Historical OR Mythological

Oct 08 - Tim Burton OR Holiday Tradition

Oct 09 - Favorite Scary Movie OR Photo Negative

Oct 10 - Pumpkins/Pumpkin Patch OR Ten of Something

Oct 11 - Corn OR Scarves

Oct 12 - Spooky Halloween Dessert OR Graveyard

Oct 13 - Favorite Autumn Drink OR Blood

Oct 14 - Skeleton OR Witch

Oct 15 - Candy or Caramel Apples OR Something You Love Doing

Oct 16 - Football OR Squirrels or Woodland Creatures

Oct 17 - Spiders or Webs OR Fear

Oct 18 - Superstition/Supernatural OR Luck (good or bad)

Oct 19 - Candles OR Something Black (not black cats!)

Oct 20 - Black Cat OR Zombies

Oct 21 - Jack O' Lanterns OR Scarecrows

Oct 22 - Monsters OR Your Camera/Phone

Oct 23 - Pets Dressed Up for Halloween OR Something You Hate Doing

Oct 24 - Hayride OR Christmas Decorations

Oct 25 - Halloween Decorations OR Haunted House

Oct 26 - Domestic Violence Awareness OR Frankenstein

Oct 27 - Ghosts OR Vampires

Oct 28 - Candy OR Autumn Scenery

Oct 29 - Bats OR Masks

Oct 30 - October Birthdays OR Full Moon

Oct 31 - Trick or Treat OR Halloween/Costume Party

I look forward to seeing your photos! I'll be posting some of my own soon.

An old owl carving that hangs in my room. It used to belong to my grandmother.

Unusual orange moss I saw on a stone.

I like your photos, Solivagant. That rock entranced me. I'll post a few pics once it's something I have a picture of or can take one easily.

wonderful pictures & a wonderful idea!!

Great photos there!

The owl reminds me of the 'Bright Carvers' from Gormenghast, the sunrise & rock pix are fab also!

This is a wonderful idea & I look forward to seeing yours & others photos for the month-I can't commit to taking/posting photos everyday I'm afraid.

I'll try to post when I can though.

I had a go at capturing the sunrise this morning, it was beautiful but my photos aren't doing it justice(I'll keep practicing) I did kinna like this one of the little ducks sharing the early morning light with me.

Thanks everyone! =] By the way, don't feel like you have to post every day to participate. Feel free to jump in any time!

That's a beautiful sunrise, Alma. Thanks for posting! I find sunrises and sunsets to be one of the hardest things to capture on camera. The colors don't come out the same and the pictures never quite seem to do the real thing justice.

October 2: Fall Leaves + Bonfire

My camera couldn't even handle how bright these were, lol.

Let's pretend it's still yesterday... largely because I came across leaves while walking, but not Captain Caveman or Akane Kurashiki.

Bear in mind, taken by a man shaking from having a chest and ear infection and on his mobile phone...

I love your pictures Cavey! Those mushrooms and roots are pretty cool, I always thought they were a neat thing to photograph. We used to get a fairy ring in the backyard that I took a picture of every year, lol. That walking path piques my curiosity, I want to see what's around the bend...

Thanks for posting! =] I hope you feel better soon!

October 3: Favorite Character + Wolves

Not a wolf, but as close as I could get! A wandering coyote.

Data from "Star Trek: TNG", one of my favorite characters. This poster of him came along with a booklet I ordered.

I love the pictures in this thread, they're calming to watch. :)

October 4: Crazy Clothes + Breast Cancer Awareness (Pink)

My Halloween socks.

Oh noes, they're making an escape!

A pink sunrise.

Thanks Alma, I always enjoy photos of your awesome dog! =] The one of your shadows is really neat.

October 5: Non-prompt today, some old photos.

A rainy desert day in the Valley of Fire.

Cheers Solivagant-can't really go wrong taking photos of a Boy as handsome as Flay, & the shadows pic is one of my faves.

The colours in your photos there are awesome.

Here's a couple more from me, taken in the last coupla days this time.

First up, another old harbour wall photo-elevated view this time around

This block of sandstone is part of one of the uprights of the railway viaduct nearby, I love all the skulls appearing in it-all the other blocks in the structure are relatively 'normal' in appearance, I'm so drawn to this one 'tortured' block

I have a couple more but will post them later

October 6: Political/Election + Crazy Hairdo

Some previously elected officials. A couple of them had some crazy hair...

I saw a mountain goat climbing on George Washington's nose once, lol. I wish I'd had a camera then.

A sampling of political dispute from my trip abroad...

That is pretty cool. When I was on a road trip once we stopped for a rest at a rock like that, aptly named "Ghost Rock". It appeared to have all sorts of faces in it.
