What are people's plans for the festive period. Are you a Christmas crazy person, or not bothered. Do you involve family, or hide from them.

Me, I will be alone, just me and the dog. This is how I like it, and as I have done for quite some time, even before the onset of loneliness. The festivities have never appealed to me, not since an infant. Although, I do quite like to watch the Queen's speech. Same for Groundhog Day, if that's on tv too.

Oddly, it does not feel particularly like Christmas. Perhaps due to avoiding people, I have not endured the insufferable enthusiasm. Similarly, not watching terrestrial television has saved me from nauseating adverts and seasonal shows. With similar results avoiding stores.

One of my better Christmases was maybe 4 years ago. The dog and I, climbed Mt. Snowdon, and completed a 16 mile loop. Aside from the breathtakingly beautiful sights and freakish dangers, it was a wonderful distraction from life, Christmas, and the world at large.

So, what of you lovely folks

Retrospectively, the 16 miles was probably too much for a Jack Russell. It was too much for me. But, she didn't give any signs of complaint. And, unlike me, wasn't a cripple the following day.

Just a quiet Christmas with myself, my hubby and our 12-year old son. We don’t have family who live nearby - too much drama! We moved away from my husband’s family several years ago - guaranteed if we still lived close by, our Christmas would be spent with all of them slowly getting inebriated and then passing out by early evening. No thanks!

And, I too, enjoy tuning in for the Queen’s speech. Kind of a tradition - my parents were from the U.K, dad from Scotland, mum from England, Christmas isn’t complete for me without mincemeat tarts and bread sauce. Sadly, the latter is not appreciated by my husband or son with their Canadian tastebuds, haha.

Will catch up on my sleep then go into work. Will try to come up with some honest answer about my day that doesn't elicit pity, concern or judgement as a freak.

I like the spiritual side of Christmas, mainly Advent and Christmas Day then I'm done. With lockdown I'm optimistic that I won't have to endure any socialising again this year and that suits me just fine.
Last year I binge watched Bridgerton, not sure about this year. Feel obliged to sit in the living room instead of reading in my room 🙄

The usual plans: take time off work, hopefully read, think, work on some projects, visit local family and soothe the burnout and malaise that's arisen over the last few months.

And, like others have suggested, I will likely keep my opinions to myself most of the time. It took me a long time to learn to not share opinions when it doesn't matter. It took me longer to learn when sharing them does matter. Usually, it doesn't.

Over the course of the holidays, planning to kick my feet up and watch some of the international hockey 🏒
Go 'Canada'! 🇨🇦

Traditional holiday Tortiere.... first year I decided to bake my own. To get in the spirit of the season. Taste test tonight 😳 hope they are good !?

( UPDATE: tortiere was very tasty tonight 🙂 other two will be frozen until offical holidays - and hopefully shared with others. The remaining half of tonight's pie is enroute ✈ to Ringwood 😉)

Curfew? Wow. Are you in Quebec? I’m in B.C. - hasn’t got to that point yet, but school has been delayed for my son for another week after Christmas break and of course, business restrictions, New Year’s celebrations cancelled, etc, etc.

Hi Ringwood, YES, I'm in QC. Restaurants are to be closed except for delivery and take out. Schools to remain close until January 17. Over 14K new infections, +135 in hospital, +16 in ICU. 😕

Festive period coming to an end 🌲 preparing the mental psyche for return to duties of employment. Thank you all for the intriguing discussions. Pleasant distraction over somewhat dismal holidays. Wish you all great things for this New Year 🎉 Sometimes we just need to believe a little to experience a touch of magic in our lives. Hope you all find some magic 🎩

In all honesty I'm pleased it's over with for another year. The Christmas season isn't a happy one for everyone.
