The unrelenting night.

Alone in the rain yet together as one
I held her so tightly, we had no where to run
The skies thundered loudly, light streaked the sky
Oh why oh dear lord did she have to die.

The evening. it started, much-like any other
I went to her house, said hello to her mother
She gathered her things and bid all a farewell
The night was still young when we steped into the world

We gazed at eachother. what were we to do?
Our options so many, the limits so few.
We couldn’t decide so we left on a walk
Hardly noticed the clouds as we paced and we talked.

The eve became night as we entered a park
Its sure getting cold she said with a laugh
I offered my jacket and she accpeted with a smile
You can take it if you need it but I said I’d be fine.

The wind it grew colder, the skies they grew dark
Looks like it might rain, we should get out of the park
She nooded in aggrement and we made down the paths
still in high sprits, still packed full of laughs

Nobody was out, they’d probably think us insane
The two strange young people walking round in the rain
We were both soaked, our clothes drapped all heavy and wet
She challenged 'I’ll beat you home', I said wanna bet.

So off we both raced, launched out into the street.
The rain fell more heavy, a blanket thicker than sleet
She ran and I chased her; water flew off her back
she always was faster and she knew of that fact

It was cold and it was wet, I remember the feeling
As she turned round to see me, a stone sent her reeling
She slipped and she fell in the middle of the road
I laughed but I shouldn’t have, said she looked like a toad.

What happen next, it was all but a blur
A car it came speeding, it didn’t see her
The seconds slowed down as I begged it to stop
The cars tires screetched and the brakes they locked up

The cars Bumper met face with a sickening crack
She must have tried to get up but instead was knocked back
And thats were I found her in the centre of the road
My poor dear lil baby no longer looked like a toad.

The driver he sped off, not bothering to look
At the girl he had hit, at the life he just took
I cradled her head as she bled in my arms
Her cold eyes stared up at me, no longer they sparked

Why oh god why we go out tonight, why did we strive
If we’d just stayed at home, she’d still be alive
The skies thundered loudly, light streaked the sky
Oh why oh dear lord did she have to die.

Wow, it's a really excellent poem. If it's based on true events, I'm really sorry. You're an excellent poet.
