Why Are People So Vicious?

Humans are naturally unpleasant and have exclusive, self-serving, and manipulative instincts. We also have good, but society does very little to cultivate it in us so it's up to every individual to learn to be good in a world where bad is encouraged, rewarded, and allowed.

I'm sad to say the older I get, the more I see this is true. Left to our own devices and especially when we think no one is looking or there won't be any repercussions, we humans can be surprisingly self-serving and unpleasant.

On the plus side, I finally remembered to bring in earbuds to work yesterday so listened to Pandora all day instead of the nasty and gross comments. I was in such a great mood and got a pile of work done!
