Wow, that really is sad, just imagine the level of desperation he reached in order to do that, I don't find his action stupid at all, I think it was an attempt to counter his loneliness because he couldn't figure any other way to do it...

Very interesting. Is that kind of desperation something we find in Western countries?

Sad to say this but this didn't surprise me. Having watched a documentary on Chinese men outnumbering Chinese women in most of the Chinese continent, I can sadly understand the depression and desperation facing many of these men as they struggle to find love.

Those are just 3 examples dotted around the World Wide Web. My thoughts with them all.

It doesn't surprise me either, though it deeply saddens me. Loneliness is a terrible thing, like toothache of the heart and soul.

ya, I don't really believe that loneliness or lack or a partner is the entire story here..
they talk as though his inability to find love was the cause of his depression. but maybe it was the other way around?
but either way, I don't think that depression alone would inspire someone to do this.. he has deeper issues.

+1. It's a tragic story indeed, but the world is full of lonely people who manage to get through this life without chopping off Pvt. Johnson. The guy obviously has mental issues that need to be fixed.
