The point of Minecraft is to be bored with a bunch of blocks.
Oh I remember that game. I used to play it so much when I first bought it way back when it was just £7.50. That was a Christmas to remember.. Sadly I can't play online so I don't know any good servers. But maybe try out the Minecraft Forums as I am sure many people there post server links and stuff 
On a side note, I played online with my friends once, by using someone else's WiFi. Was brilliant!
