    Alone at xmas

Well I don't get on with my family, don't particularly like my family, which is why I avoid family gatherings. Thanks for the link, I will take a look.

    Alone at xmas

I wouldn't say its satisfying. The actual day will mean lots of people in the house, which means I'll be locking myself in my room for 24 hours. But apart from that one day, Christmas as a whole is much less stressful for me. And I'm always alone, so I'm used to it.

    Alone at xmas

See, this is what I mean about the pressure of trying to be happy at this time of year. For someone like me it's a total charade if I put on a brave face and I don't see why I should put myself through a lot of stress and anxiety because of it. If I'm happy on the 25th December, so be it, if...

    Would you rather..

    Life without Internet ?!

My first full time job was with an Internet mail order company. So I have no idea where I'd be right now if the Internet didn't exist.

    Alone at xmas

My way of dealing with loneliness at Christmas is to not acknowledge it. Been years since I celebrated Christmas, one of the best decisions I ever made. I now have no pressure, guilt, worry, expectation, expense or loneliness that I usually felt from taking part in the holiday.

What do you do to feel safe and secure?

If there's other people in the house, I have to be in my bedroom. If there's a lot of people in the house(parties, birthdays, Christmas) I have to barricade myself in my bedroom. Apart from that I'm pretty much always on edge and nervous.

What are you thinking right now?

Thinking about what I'm going to make to eat once every one has gone to bed. Some sort of sandwich most probably.

    The Mobile Phone

There are many reasons why I looked for a forum like this and why I joined up. But when I think back to around 10 years ago when things started to go badly for me, it all seems to stem from one invention. The mobile phone. I finished my last year of school in 2000 and at that time I did not...

    looking out for yourself

Hi Misa, I can relate to a lot of what you say. Unfortunately I don't think my advice would be very good. I've become very bitter and pessimistic after so many people and things have gone wrong for me. I'm now in a situation where I would rather shut myself away and not bother, for fear of the...

Does it sometimes feel like it's too late?

Hi the-alchemist. I understand how you feel as I at 27 often feel the same. For me it's not about the amount of time I have ahead of me, it's the time before that affects my outlook on the future. All those issues, incidents, problems and stresses that have gone on make me wonder why should...
