You are right Qui, but with an IP address I can find out what country and town he is in, who the ISP is, and ultimately I can get the account holders name and phone number. I can then report them to their ISP through a friend at a tech center and they can have their customer support give the account holder a phone call to sort this all out. If it's some stupid kid using his parents account, I doubt his parents will appreciate reports from their ISP of this sort of posting going on. If it continues beyond that the ISP is in their right to temporarily suspend internet service. Not sure a mod will be able to access the information... maybe have to have the forum admin retrieve the info. And I am aware that his IP can be constantly changing... though I doubt he is intelligent enough to know how to do this... this doesn't matter. All I need is an IP.

And I have to say you guys are taking this all rather well... I'm at the point where I'm prepared to spend the $35 to track down his name and phone number and start posting his personal information on here for all to see this coward.

I am not saying mods aren't doing a good job by this but just impossible for them to keep on top of it when you have someone that is so committed. I hope we can do something to take care of this till then I think I am going to just take a break from the forums just too much negative energy and that is the last thing is I need at all. That would be nice. Again, I know nothing of computers but... can you just magic that out of the internet? How do you get his IP?

The IP can be attached to the posts you make... you see the handle you chose... an admin sees your handle and can see your IP.

An IP address gives more information than most people know.

It is a link to your local... right down to the town you are in... it also traces to your ISP.

The ISPs server keeps records of IP distribution to it's customers... so even should you clear your IP adress by disconnecting and reconnecting, a time stamp of when you had that IP address remains on the ISP server.

I have a friend that works with a certain tech support center I once worked at... I'll have him create a couple reports of abuse from customers. The abuse reports can be taken to the next Teir where they contact the offending ISP and report this abuse. Then our unwelcome guests ISP will call his house and have a chat with him about this... if the reports continue, his ISP will lock out his internet.

Otherwise, you are underage Qui and he is posting pornography saying it is you... this is illegal in most countries that I know of... so you tell his ISP this as well in a report and they determine if it's time to call the police on this guy. Sure he'll probably get off after they realize its fake, but in the mean time they will have broken into his house, seized his computer, and taken him into custody... This happened recently to a Canadian... he posted some pictures to an American that report him to the police... the RCMP arrested him in a matter of just a few hours after he was reported. Sure he was not guilty and got off, but he had to spend time in jail while police scoured his computer for child pornography. I have a program that is capable of retrieving old formats of your hard drive... the program is powerful, but takes many hours to run... so more time for him to sit and think about how much of an idiot he has been.

And even if the troll won't get bored? Why not just let him entertain himself? Ignoring the troll is the most that we can do to help the mods too, in my opinion.
