I've been vegan for a while now, one of my daughters is vegan.

Thought it might be nice to start a vegan thread to share recipes, tips, discoveries etc.

I'm in the UK, so pre-packaged food may differ but still...say hi!!!!

I am not fully vegan but try my best to be sort of veganish, I only use hemp, almond or coconut milk in my coffee, and eat plenty of soya etc products. There is a vegan cafe in Manchester where I got a sandwich the other day, think it was vegan sausage and chutney, they do a nice vegan cheese toastie as well.

One of my friends is vegan, I see her about once a month, she grows her own food and often shares tips so if I hear any from her I will share them here. She went from veggie to vegan quite recently so is always discovering new stuff. She works and in a relationship and lives miles away so I don't see her a lot at the moment.

No red meat, poultry or dairy products, but I occasionally eat fish.... that would make me Pescetarian.

What got me interested was reading 'The China Study', documenting drastically lower mortality rates in rural China from common 'Western' illnesses. The author concluded that is was their low animal product intake.

i'm a Carnivore myself. I try to avoid vegetables whenever possible.
I would consider eating a vegetarian if she was tender though :p

Finally made it back to the thread!

Bei...I was given a sneaky heads up about you ;)

French toast! I used to Loooove that! I'm so gonna have to try it! I can get very stuck in a routine of eating the same things. I avoid going to specialist shops an buying specialist 'vegan' foods. Price mainly. It can be ridiculously expensive!

Walley....you're silly ;)

Punisher...have you ever considered veganism? somenpeoplethings it's going to be too hard, but it's easier than you think. I'm not here to convert. Just asking :)

WalkingDead...I live about an hour away from Manchester. A long way to go for a sandwich ;) I wet to a vegan festival there back in the summer. It was horrendously busy! We queued for over an hour to get in!!

If you hear of anything to pass on, that'd be great!

Rdor...you sound more like a Pesco-vegan to me :)

I have vegan friends and after speaking to them and then watching a documentary called 'Earthlings' I jumped straight into it!!

There was another vegan festival thinggy the other week, apparently it was a better venue and logistics were much better, if I hear of something again will let you know!

I know it won't be hard :p I've already gave up too many good things.

As long as I don't eat animals, I don't care what I eat :D

Yeah, I think someone told me about you too... hehe.

Yeah, the prepackaged vegan alternatives can get pricey. I try to make things without that stuff. Still get them for special occasions though.

I'm going to pm you my instagram so you can see my food pics. :D
