Does loneliness make you care more or less about your appearance?

I think that is a very good question. It obviously varies on the person, but in general, I would say no. I mean, if a person is lonely and introverted, then most likely they probably won't care as much. I think a great amount of apathy comes from loneliness. Some that are lonely become introverted, and some don't,so I can tell it varies.
I've been alone for over 5 years, and I've noticed I'm not as worried about my appearance as much as I was before. Loneliness might have something to do with it.

I care a lot about my appearance because I often feel self conscious around others. But this isn't so much in an "oh I'm not fashionable" sense as it is a concern about my weight and body language. Do you ever feel like your face freezes up in some social situations? I just go completely flat and my guess is that people think I'm dull or a bit stupid when they meet me because I'm not at all expressive. I also hate feeling fat because I fear being judged for it somehow.

I totally understand. Sometimes, I can feel very insecure, I always tell myself "You know what...This is who I am."

It makes me care a lot less. When I had friends I would shave and cut my hair. I now look like a Zach Galifianakis Jesus. I just don't see the point in doing that without ever having to worry about leaving the house!
