Oh, I can think of a couple major perks of being single: How about never having to deal with your significant others' family or friends?
Picture yourself sitting at Christmas dinner with half your in-laws verbally shredding each other to pieces, the other half getting plastered, your father in law has just stormed off to bed after calling your spouse a selfish ******* and now your mother in law is sobbing into her napkin. You remember that the image next time you're feeling lonely and sorry for yourself on a holiday ... and smile.
