What do you think about meetup group?

I don't quite get the idea of this group. What I think the group is for you to find a new friend but in some groups, most people who join the group just go for the activity and separate after then. No more future friends????? Maybe it's just nice when have people around???? I don't know.

Pointless! I signed up for a few and went to the location.
You can't just have a a bunch of strangers show up at a location they won't know who or what to look for.
I sat in this bar all alone drinking for 2 hours and feeling so ******* stupid, the waitresses were either looking at me funny or ignoring me. Yeah, you don't go to these places alone, I've learned to just not go out anymore. Thanks meetup!
