Click bait thread title. But my motives are noble. 😄
Seeing ourselves as a label like "loser". Is that helpful.?
Some of my family members might label me as a loser. Not sure I really care. Or respect their point of view. I used to care but now I realise they don't really know me. My personality is kind of insular. Most of them are extroverted. I am strange. Sometimes good strange. Sometimes bad strange. I can socialise but as I get older don't enjoy it as much. Small talk doesn't thrill me. Not that it ever did .
I was a loser in my career. Failed teacher. Couldn't handle the kids anymore. So I did us both a favour and quit aged 45. Been doing entry level jobs ever since.
Think I needed to feel successful in something. Now I realise you have to become really skilled at least one thing. Excel at one thing. Even better if you can excel at more things.

I'm a loser because I didn't want to sell my soul to them (the Devil) and they didn't want to share the world with me ... now they have to work to pay me a good disability pension because God does fight back

In my mind the only losers in the world are those who give themselves a false sense of 'bigness' by bullying and putting others down.
I stand up to bullies much better than I used to. Having said that if a big muscular bad ass, asked me to do something, I probably wouldn't hesitate. 😄
Now I am occasionally accused of bullying myself. In this modern world, it's hard to distinguish between bully and victim sometimes. The victim in the western world often has leverage. Not always.

Yes I consider myself to be a loser:
- I've never had a girlfriend or even a free date
- Even though I've done well in my job, I spend a great deal of money on escorts. Had I invested that money instead, I could have retired 10 years ago. And lived in a much nicer place, too.
- I've been a very heavy drinker since I was a teenager. A large percentage of my life has been spent drunk, sitting in my apartment, watching television or quite frankly blacked out/passed out.
- I can be very cross with people when I feel like I am being attacked. Am very defensive due to being picked on constantly as a kid in school.

That being said I've also:
- never hurt anyone
- gone out of my way, above and beyond, to help girls (yes, prostitutes)
- never asked anyone for anything - ave always been 100% self sufficient while sometimes even helping/supporting others
- have gone out of my way to get out of work friends/acquaintances jobs in my field (tech) when I could
- have gone out of my way to train and mentor younger staff members whom everyone else was ignoring
- twice left notes on cars that I accidentally bumped while parking and did some damage. One older lady was astonished that I did that, and that I gave her $400 to fix the damage. She asked if I was "real".

So yes, I am a loser.
But I have often also tried to be a good person.
I can be pretty bad at times as well (alcoholics like me usually have some very bad moments), but I have tried to be decent too.
I ain't no saint, but I try not to be a devil either.

I'm impressed. You are a tragic hero in my book.

you are an excellent example for Einstein's words “Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value.”

Thank you sir.
But really...I can and have often been a Grade A screw-up as well...

To the extent that I quit things, when the going got tough, I was a loser.
To the extent that I didn't really listen to people well when they really needed me to listen well, I was a loser.

Sorry Cherubino. I'm not up to speed on your theist beliefs. Are you Christian? Just that I may be heading in the same direction.
no I can't label myself as Christian ... I get love nutrients from any religion or philosophy and knowledge nutrients from science ... according to my favorite quotes

"Science is what we know, philosophy (religion) is what we don't know"

"The good life is one inspired by love and guided by knowledge. Neither love without knowledge nor knowledge without love can produce a good life."

I am.
I feel like I've lost my own planet/world and can't naturalize in this one.

Loner and Loser
-both start with l
-both 5 letters
Are all loners losers?
No, not at all. The devil is in the details middle.
But I think, both are more a state of a soul than anything else.

Applause for recognizing your good qualities.

My mum once had some prick take out her car window with his van door and he just turned his nose up at her and drove off. You are a rare treasure for accepting responsibility on the road.
