Something that has helped me over the years to overcome shyness was taking up drama in high school...

Drama???? Acting???? You bet! Learning how to act allows you to project yourself differently towards others. You can act like you have confidence! You can also be someone else! Now when I find myself in social situations where I need to be forward with others, I just fall back on the acting skills and "pretend" that I am social...

Consider the prominent and successful people today....how many started off as actors/actresses?????
 
Oh man, good for you for taking that class. I could never do that. I'm a bit of a character sometimes and probably would have enjoyed acting but I absolutely fear public speaking, even if I get to become someone else. I used to take guitar lessons and hated performing in front of people, I'd get so nervous.

So again, kudos to you for being able to do it.
